Elizabeth King Appointed to Indy Reads Board

By

Elizabeth King, case manager at Plews Shadley Racher and Braun (PSRB), has been appointed to the board of directors for Indy Reads.

The mission of Indy Reads is to promote and improve the literacy of adults and families in Central Indiana. Indy Reads believes that everyone should have an opportunity to learn to read, and it is the goal of Indy Reads to make Indianapolis 100% literate.  Indy Reads has programs that include one-on-one tutoring, small group sessions, English as a second language instruction, and “Literacy Labs” at neighborhood centers. Indy Reads services are free to qualified adult students.

Elizabeth has been involved with the organization since 2011 as a member of the Fund Development committee.  Since, 2011 PSRB has participated in the annual Indy Reads Spelling Bee. PSRB teams have placed or received honorable mention in every spelling bee since 2011.  In 2013, Elizabeth chaired the summer event called Scavenge the Ave. The six-block scavenger hunt raises awareness about adult literacy while giving people something unique and fun to do in the Mass Ave neighborhood on a summer evening.
