By

Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP (PSRB) is pleased to announce that Joanne Sommers has received the Indiana Lawyer’s 2022 Up and Coming Award, and Kathryn Bischof has received the 2022 Legal Support Star Award. The Indiana Lawyer makes its Leadership in Law selections based on demonstrated leadership, accomplishment in legal work, and volunteer and community work. This year’s honorees were announced in The Indiana Lawyer and recognized at a breakfast reception on June 1st.

PSRB Managing Partner, Greg Gotwald, said, “We’re thrilled to see Joanne and Kathryn honored for their hard-work, passion, and talents. They are superstars. Joanne and Kathryn justifiably join the ranks of our other twenty-two past Leadership in Law winners.”

Joanne Sommers is a partner at PSRB and represents businesses and individuals in both litigation and transactional settings. Her broad foundation allows her litigation practice to inform her transactional practice, and vice versa, to help obtain the best outcomes for her clients. She represents policyholders, in property and liability insurance coverage and insurance agent liability litigation. She also prosecutes and defends environmental and complex commercial claims. Joanne counsels both start-ups and established businesses on corporate governance matters. She also represents buyers and sellers in commercial real estate and other business transactions focusing on deals that have environmental concerns. Joanne currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for Heritage Place of Indianapolis, Inc., volunteers as a Guardian ad Litem for Kids Voice of Indiana, and is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and Indiana State Bar Association.

Kathryn Bischof is a paralegal and primarily focuses on fact investigation, discovery organization and disputes, and provides a support role in motion drafting and hearing preparation. She provides top-quality support, to attorneys and clients alike, to progress cases from start to finish. Kathryn has vast knowledge in a variety of practice areas ranging from environmental insurance coverage matters, estate and probate matters, assisting litigation teams in discovery disputes, pursing insurers for recovery of costs, and preparing attorneys for depositions. Kathryn is a dedicated volleyball coach and prides herself on providing a positive environment for all levels of competitive play and development. She has also volunteered her time for organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul Society and Special Olympics of Indiana. She currently volunteers her time as the Treasurer on her Homeowners Association Board of Directors.
