Shelley M. Jackson Named Secretary of the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation Board
Shelley M. Jackson has been appointed to a one-year term as Secretary of the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation Board. The mission of the Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation is to enhance educational opportunities, inspire excellence, and engage the community to foster a legacy of achievement in the Hamilton Southeastern school district. The Foundation furthers its mission by funding and administering student scholarships and educator grants throughout the district, as well as engaging with school and community stakeholders on educational issues.
Jackson is an attorney at Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she concentrates her practice in the areas of health law, employment law, and insurance coverage. She counsels clients at every stage of the employment relationship and regularly assists clients in employment and other litigation matters before Indiana’s state and federal courts and various administrative agencies/commissions. In addition to her legal experience, Shelley holds an advanced degree in secondary education and taught high school English for seven years. During that time, she participated in content-area curriculum development, Individualized Education Plan and 504 Plan assessments, and worked with a cohort of educators to develop and implement innovative programming for college-bound English language learners. As an attorney, Shelley has counseled parents and teachers on various education-related matters and continues to remain involved in the educational community. She is a 1996 graduate of Ball State University (English/Teaching), 2001 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University (Master of Education), and earned her Juris Doctorate in 2007 from IU McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
