The focus of Ali Sylvia’s practice is real estate and other business transactions.  Many of these transactions involve environmental issues.  Under fiscal and regulatory conditions that provide serious and ever-changing challenges, Ali and the Plews Shadley Racher & Braun lawyers she supervises have succeeded in getting tough and complex deals done for clients in a timely and cost-effective manner.  Ali represents buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, borrowers and lenders in a wide range of real estate and real-estate related financing matters. She also regularly counsels clients on numerous environmental compliance issues, including cleanups and cost-recovery actions.   Ali is recognized as a leader in real estate transactions and was named an  Indiana Super Lawyers® "Rising Star" for 2009 for Real Estate.  She was named a finalist in law for the 2009 Indy's Best and Brightest Award.

Ali’s bar service includes serving as Chair (2006-2007), Vice Chair (2005-2006) and Treasurer (2004-2005) for the Indiana State Bar Association, Environmental Law Section and she is the current Chair (2009-2010) of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Standing Committee for Women in the Law.  Ali is a Fellow of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation.  She is also a member of IndyCREW serving on the Special Events Committee.  Ali is active in the community, having served as a volunteer and Board member of Heritage Place of Indianapolis and a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis.

Ali received her B.A. (Chemistry and Psychology) from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1993.  She earned her J.D., cum laude, from the Indiana University, Indianapolis School of Law in 1996.  She joined Plews Shadley Racher & Braun as an associate in 1996 and was made a partner in 2004.
